Hypnotherapy for Stress

ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a natural technique, that uses hypnosis to gain access to the subconscious mind. As an advanced hypnotherapist I help adults and children identify the root cause of their issue so they can resolve it and regain control of that part of their life.

Hypnotherapy is effective because it works with your subconscious mind, which is the seat of all your emotions, and the part of your mind that controls approximately 90% of your behaviour. Your subconscious will always try to do what is best for you.  It learns behaviours and beliefs from experience often in childhood and then continues to use those beliefs and behaviours throughout your life a bit like a computer running a program.  The trouble is that sometimes the subconscious mind can make a mistake, creating a connection between an event and behaviour that may have been appropriate at that time, but isn’t appropriate, or helpful any more.  Through hypnotherapy we can work together to change that program and enable you to make the changes you want.

What is Hypnosis?

People talk about “going into” or “being put” into hypnosis as if it’s something only a trained person can do.  It isn’t.  Hypnosis is an everyday occurrence, it’s like being totally absorbed in a book, it's like daydreaming.  It is a totally natural state that people go in and out of every day without even realising.  We will use hypnosis as a way of accessing your subconscious mind and resolving the root cause of your issue in a completely safe and non-invasive way.

What does Hypnosis Feel Like?

Everyone will have their own individual experience and feelings.   You may find your arms and legs feel very heavy.  Many people will feel relaxed both in mind and body.  In hypnosis you are fully aware during the session and can recall everything afterwards.

Will I be asleep?

When you are in hypnosis you are awake and aware. Your mind is active and your thoughts and actions are under your control. You are aware of things going on around you. You can hold a conversation while in hypnosis.

Could I be influenced to do or say anything against my will?

No.  When you are in hypnosis you have full control of your thoughts and actions, just as when you are awake.  Hypnotherapy is totally different to stage hypnosis.  I use hypnosis as a way to help you make the changes in your life that you want to make and with your approval.  It is important to remember stage hypnotists carefully select enthusiastic volunteers, who are willing to be uninhibited while on stage.

Can hypnosis be dangerous?

No.  Hypnotherapy is a proven therapeutic aid. You are always in control of the therapeutic situation, and you can bring yourself out of hypnosis at any time.

How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Everyone is different and it is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist.  Find out more about Jessica Green >
